I was selected as 1 of 45 students worldwide for Pioneer Academics Global

Problem-Solving Institute.

I co-authored a 20-page research paper on using permeable pavement

to reduce land subsidence with two of my peers, under the guidance of

Professor Nicole Snyder (Davidson College).

Resource at Risk: Water Insecurity

South Florida's coastline faces severe

land subsidence due to groundwater

overconsumption.

Land Subsidence in

South Florida

Overextraction leads to loss

of ground stability and water

insecurity.

Permeable pavement allows water

to flow through the porous material,

and into the soil below.

Regions are sinking up to 8cm

per year due to overextraction

of groundwater.
