Product Designer & Founder

Julia “Jewels” Freedman
builds things people use.

I'm a product designer and founder who turns half-formed ideas into things people actually use — an AI browser extension with 500+ beta testers, a shoe cover pitched to the Boston Red Sox, a bracelet that helps older adults carry their medical history when it matters most. I'm currently studying Arts, Technology, and the Business of Innovation at the USC Iovine and Young Academy.

Featured ventures

The three projects that best show how I work — each taken from a rough idea through a working prototype, real users, and a pitch to people who could say no.

RePromptr's Enhance Prompt button embedded in the ChatGPT interface

RePromptr

Co-founder & CEO — June 2025–Present
Patent Pending 500+ beta users Works across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini

RePromptr is a patent-pending Chrome extension that gives users the instincts of a seasoned prompt engineer. The idea came from watching friends and classmates shut their laptops on AI tools mid-task — not for lack of ideas, but because the interface gave them no way to turn a rough thought into an effective prompt.

I set the direction, designed and coded the interface, and led the patent filing process directly with a patent attorney — while leading a 3-person team across product and development through beta release. As the product grew, I kept coming back to one belief: uneven access to prompting skill quietly widens the gap between people who get real value from AI and people who don't. RePromptr embeds that guidance into the interface itself, so users keep agency and confidence over how they work with AI.

SoleSafe prototype shoe cover

SoleSafe

Co-founder & CEO — December 2024–May 2026
1st · NFTE Innovate South Florida Diamond Challenge Northeast advancer

SoleSafe was a universal shoe cover that prevented the degradation of athletic shoe soles — a response to the hundreds of millions of athletic shoes discarded every year. As product designer, I focused on a solution athletes would actually wear: layered neoprene, a nylon-spandex blend, and a silicone sole, tuned across dozens of hand-sewn prototypes for durability, washability, and fit.

I designed and 3D printed a CAD model of an athletic cleat to use as a construction form, then tested SoleSafe with athletes across sports and refined it against real wear. The product has since won first place among 47 teams at NFTE Innovate South Florida, advanced in the Diamond Challenge Northeast out of 2,000 teams from 77 countries, and been pitched directly to executives and ownership at the Boston Red Sox, Liverpool FC, and the New York Jets.

MedBand medical ID bracelet prototype with NFC charm

Dignity in Design

Founder — January 2023–May 2026
20+ seniors & caregivers interviewed 5+ products designed & 3D printed

Dignity in Design restores independence through thoughtfully engineered products for elderly and disabled individuals — the everyday tasks most people never think twice about: cutting vegetables, trimming nails, opening doors.

MedBand, a medical ID bracelet with an embedded NFC chip, began after my grandmother fainted while traveling abroad, where language barriers and an unfamiliar healthcare system complicated getting her help. I designed the chip into a wearable charm rather than a clinical device, storing medication lists and EKG records for first responders — with the system structured so only the wearer can edit their own records, avoiding HIPAA issues. SafeSnip, a nail clipper with a soldered metal stabilizer, prevents users with tremors or limited mobility from clipping themselves, shaped by hammering metal onto a 3D-printed mold of the average finger slope.

EcoSmile biodegradable toothbrush prototype, three angles
Diamond Challenge · Round 2

EcoSmile

A 100% biodegradable toothbrush — hemp-filament handle, 3D printed and hand-sanded, with hand-inserted castor bean oil bristles for softness without sacrificing biodegradability.

Ergergy CAD model, side view and micro-turbine detail
1st · UChicago Booth Sustainability

Ergergy

An attachment for ergometer machines that captures the airflow generated by each row and converts it to clean energy through micro-turbines. I designed the CAD model.
